Martin Randall Travel was founded in 1988 by
Martin Randall, a graduate of the Courtauld. We now employ twenty-two staff, twenty-one of whom work in the London office and one from Florence. In addition, we work with some one hundred freelance lecturers and tour managers.
There are two main strands to the business:
small-group tours for a maximum of 22 participants, all accompanied by a lecturer. These are concerned with some aspect of culture or learning – the visual arts, gardens, music, history, geology and gastronomy. Even the walking tours have a cultural focus. With around 160 tours each year, they constitute the largest sector of our activities.
All-inclusive
music festivals. These are festivals which we ourselves devise and organise in various cities or regions of Europe, and which now number four or five each year.
Where we are based
The Martin Randall Travel office is in the Grade II* listed Voysey House in Chiswick, London W4. It was built to house the Sanderson wallpaper factory, and is Charles Voysey’s only industrial building. We occupy the top (fourth) floor and have a terrace with views across London.
We are beside Turnham Green and a very short walk from
Chiswick House. The Chiswick High Road is on our doorstep with innumerable bars and restaurants, a Waitrose and an M&S.
Transport. The closest Underground stations are Turnham Green and Chiswick Park, both on the District line and within ten minutes’ walk. Gunnersbury is also close by and is additionally served by the North London Line which connects Richmond to Stratford. Chiswick mainline station is a fifteen minute walk with trains on the quarter to London Waterloo. Numerous buses pass by the office, from Richmond, Acton and Hammersmith.
