Haydn in Vienna Pre-Festival Tour
This tour is only available to participants of the Haydn in Vienna music festival.
Adding two days to the beginning of ‘Haydn in Vienna’, this tour sets the scene by visiting places where Haydn lived and worked both in Vienna and outside. Accompanying it is Haydn biographer and lecturer for the festival, Richard Wigmore.
Two nights are spent in Eisenstadt, an attractive country town an hour south-east of Vienna which, as the principal seat of the princely Esterházy family, became Haydn’s home town for most of his working life. There is also a trip into Hungary to Eszterháza, the summer palace at Fertöd.
