Two masters of modern British sculpture

A new tour from Martin Randall Travel is being launched to coincide with the major Moore exhibition at Hatfield House and the opening of the Barbara Hepworth gallery in Wakefield.

Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore have done more for the reputation of British sculpture than any other sculptor.  In their diverse ways they created a distinct language of sculpture, almost a national style, influencing later figures including Anthony Caro and Philip King.

Both artists' work has become instantly recognisable and internationally renowned, with Moore's abstracted, reclining figures and Hepworth's polished, pierced totems.

This unique tour is the opportunity to explore both artists in depth and detail in surroundings that are intimately connected with their lives and work.

Highlights:

• Small group, accompanied throughout by former Head of Collections and Exhibitions at the Henry Moore Foundation

• Hatfield House for the Henry Moore exhibition; this Jacobean mansion is celebrating its 400th anniversary

• Henry Moore's former home and studio and the Chipperfield-designed Hepworth gallery in Wakefield

• One of Britain's best collections of modern and contemporary sculpture at the 500-acre Yorkshire Sculpture Park

• The New Walk Museum and Art gallery in Leicester, home to works by Rodin, Marc and Pissarro, and a collection of Picasso's ceramics

• Two nights' accommodation at the 4* Art Deco Queen's Hotel in Leeds

• Price includes lunch and two dinners with wine, water and coffee, all admissions to galleries, return travel by private coach from London and talks by the lecturer

• No single supplement

The 3-day tour costs £690 per person and is running from 20-22 September 2011.
