Led by expert lecturers and meticulously planned by staff in Italy and the UK, our guided tours to Italy allow you to experience and learn more about its art, history, archaeology, gastronomy and music. These cultural tours to Italy visit the length and breadth of this extraordinary country, taking in some of the most remarkable sites and sights in the history and civilization of Europe, or indeed of the world. Our small-group guided tours to Italy visit the most renowned culturally- and historically-rich cities, such as Rome, Venice and Florence, as well as a host of lesser-known towns and regions, like Ferrara, Mantova, Lucca, the Venetian Hills and Basilicata. Highlights include private visits to the Basilica di San Marco and the Sistine Chapel.
Naples
- Selects the best of the art, architecture and antiquities in Naples.
- Performance of Puccini’s La Bohème at the recently restored Teatro San Carlo.

- Seven concerts in beautiful settings: a castle near Lake Trasimeno and the Chiesa di S. Domenico in Gubbio.
- The music is interpersed with excursions to Perugia, Assisi, Cortona and elsewhere.
Verona Opera
- In the setting of a Roman amphitheatre, the most famous of open-air festivals.
- Each tour is accompanied by an art historian who leads walks and visits during the day.
- The hotel is close to the amphitheatre.
Opera in Macerata & Pesaro
- Carmen (Bizet) and La Traviata (Verdi) at Macerata; Matilde di Shabran and Il Signor Bruschino (Rossini) at Pesaro.

- Talks on the operas by Simon Rees, dramaturg for Welsh National Opera.
Torre del Lago

- The operas are performed on three successive evenings in the new open-air theatre near Puccini’s home.
- Based in Lucca with visits to a selection of art and architecture and to places associated with Puccini, including the newly reopened museum in the house of his birth.
Villas & Gardens of Campagna Romana

- Vivid remains of Etruscan civilisation, emulated and displaced by the Romans.
- Beguiling scenery of tufa hills and ‘classical’ compositions.
Lucca
- Allows for leisurely exploration of one of the most beautiful and engaging of Tuscan cities.
- Within magnificent ramparts, a treasury of sculpture, painting and architecture, Romanesque and Renaissance in particular.

Our lecturer brought Ancient Rome to light in an interesting, humorous and informative manner.
A most satisfactory choice of Roman sites. Some of course I had seen before but our lecturer’s excellent commentary made them come alive.The mixture of open sites plus museums was well thought out.
