In Palermo (3 nights): a 16th-century palazzo converted into a charming 4-star hotel in the centre. Rooms combine classical furnishings with modern comforts and the terrace has fine views over the city. In Marsala (4 nights): a comfortable 4-star hotel, centrally located.
HOW STRENUOUS?
A lot of walking, some of it over rough ground and cobbled or uneven paving. Fitness and sure-footedness are essential. The average distance by coach per day is 47 miles.
