Andrew Martin

Journalist, novelist, cultural historian and documentary-maker. He is the author of many rail-inspired works of non-fiction, including Underground Overground: a Passenger’s History of the Tube (2012) and Seats of London: A Field Guide to London Transport Moquette Patterns (2019). During the 1990s he was ‘Tube Talk’ columnist for the Evening Standard. He is the author of the Jim Stringer series of detective novels about an Edwardian railwayman reassigned to the North Eastern Railway police. His latest book, to be published in August 2023, is an ode to the Paris Metro.
