Professor Barry Cooper
Barry Cooper is a Professor of Music at the University of Manchester. He has written or edited ten books on Beethoven, the latest being The Creation of Beethoven’s Nine Symphonies (Boydell Press, 2024). He has also produced scholarly performing editions of several major works, including Beethoven’s 35 Piano Sonatas and Missa solemnis. In 1988 his completion of the first movement of Beethoven’s unfinished Tenth Symphony attracted widespread international attention, and has since been performed in many countries.
