Press release: Martin Randall Travel Appoints Dr Nick Merriman as Senior Advisor
Cultural travel specialist Martin Randall Travel has appointed leading heritage figure Dr Nick Merriman as a Senior Advisor, Private Groups, tasked with driving the growth of the company's private groups and patron-led travel business.
Drawing on his extensive senior relationships across the museums, galleries and cultural institutions sector, Nick will open and develop new institutional partnerships, shape Martin Randall Travel’s private groups and patron travel programmes, and travel with select tours himself.
Most recently Chief Executive of English Heritage, Nick has been in director or chief executive roles in museums and heritage organisations for 20 years. Before joining English Heritage, he was Chief Executive of the Horniman Museum and Gardens in London; Director of the Manchester Museum at the University of Manchester, and prior to that Reader in Museum and Heritage Studies at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London.
Graham Horner, CEO of Martin Randall Travel, says: "Nick's appointment gives us direct access to relationships and credibility in the museums and heritage sector that would otherwise take a long time to build. We've always led the market in cultural travel for individual travellers, and we see real headroom to grow with private and special interest groups. Nick's role is central to that — helping institutions across the sector understand what we offer and why we're the right partner for their audiences.
"Commenting on his appointment, Nick Merriman says: "Martin Randall Travel has the strongest reputation in the market for expert-led cultural travel. I'm looking forward to joining them and using my network across museums and heritage to help shape their private groups offer that matches the quality of everything else they do."
