Our History tours focus on significant events, encounters and destinations, from Charlemagne's achievements to an exploration of pre-Columbian civilisations in Peru; from the study of ancient empires to the passion and politics of civil war Spain. Acclaimed historians provide context and analysis on in-depth journeys through place and time.
Central to all our history tours is the choice of lecturer; top academics and experts with first-hand experience of the places and detailed knowledge of the period in question. They include former diplomats, army officers and foreign correspondents – well placed through their myriad contacts to open doors onto the past.
Additionally, our UK based residential history symposia programme presents leading scholarship in digestible and entertaining ways. We run one of two of these events per year – contact us to register your interest.
About our history tours
We choose destinations for their weight in history, and lecturers for their depth of knowledge - travelling in small groups with like-minded companions, the result is a journey that moves fluently between grand sweep and telling detail. See the places you've read about come to life before your eyes, often with special access to some of the world's great museums and monuments.
"
The excellence in the smallest detail, from hotel selection to minute by minute organisation of each day and evening, the highest possible quality of the lectures, despite initial terror of finding one knew nothing, but realising one was there to learn after all, as were most attendees. "
