Cultural tours in Austria

Our cultural tours of Austria embrace both the country’s rich musical traditions and its former status as the cradle of the Habsburg empire.

Vienna features prominently on several itineraries – its art treasures and Baroque palaces as well as outstanding musical and operatic productions – but we also offer a festival of Haydn’s work in the small town where it was first heard, the annual Schubertiade in the mountain villages of the Vorarlberg, and a glorious Mozart immersion in Salzburg of works written and first performed there.

As always, private visits figure prominently and the performing artists – including Ian Bostridge, Anne Sofie von Otter and Igor Levit – and tour lecturers, such as Dr Jarl Kremeier, are top-class. A medley of tours to strike a chord with all lovers of music and culture.

Mozart in Salzburg The annual winter festival

The Schubertiade Music and mountains in the Vorarlberg

" Very well thought out. Good mix of interiors/exteriors of some very interesting buildings. " Connoisseur’s Vienna - Art, architecture, music & private visits

" Richard Wigmore transformed the experience for me – giving depth to my shallow knowledge. There was no musical subject on which he was unable to converse; he made his expertise accessible with enormous fluency and enthusiasm. His lectures flashed by, full of insights and jokes in equal measure. He was always friendly, cheerful and approachable. " Mozart in Salzburg - The annual winter festival

" We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience, which managed to successfully combine significant musical and intellectual stimulation with a relaxing and very pleasurable holiday in a lovely location. " The Schubertiade - Music and mountains in the Vorarlberg
